Last night we finally agreed on a name for our newest family member...Christian Alejandro Palacios. We haven't decided whether to keep the "h" or not (Cristian), but at least I can start calling my boy by his name. Carlos really wanted a Jr., but we compromised and they will have the same initials instead (CAP). Philip looked very much like his dad (dark hair and olive skin) and I was worried this baby would come out light skinned and blond. So I really wanted a name that would work either way. This one fits the bill and it just feels like the right name. Yeah!
BTW- Mom and I visited my brother and SIL this weekend. We had such a blast playing with my nieces and catching up. On Sunday, we stopped in Dallas on the way home to visit my old friend Lisa. Our family moved next door to her's when I was 5, so we have been friends for a long, long time. She is currently several weeks away from her first labor experience...except she will be delivering TWINS! Double the pain, double the blessings! Anyway, it was so great to see her and her husband and her parents. We had a lovely lunch and I really enjoyed checking out her girl's nursery and all the cool stuff she had waiting for their arrival. She even let me rub her belly! I love the belly rub! It was a great weekend. I can't wait to meet her babies, Lisa is half hispanic and her husband is anglo. Carlos and I are basically the opposite combination, so I can't wait to see what the girls look like. And...which one will be my future daughter in law! LOL! Franny Palacios...Zooey Palacios...either or works for me! Just kidding...our kids will defineatly be friends but anything beyond will be for them to figure out.
Since we were away this weekend, I did not have time to scan the sono pictures. I will try to fit that in this week.
On more thing, my friend Christina had her son Noah this past Saturday (3 weeks early). I think it might of had something to do with that full moon Friday night. Anyway, mommy and baby are doing great and went home yesterday. Christina and her husband have waited a long time for Noah and I am over the moon for them.

Sonogram Update
So, if you scroll down you will see some pictures I posted. I finally learned how...yeah! In addition to those, I am going to scan my pics from the sono sometime in the next few days and post those as well. I am so excited to share the newest pictures of our son with everyone! Yes, I said son! So much for mother's intuition...I really thought this little guy was a little gal! Carlos was the only one who believed we would have another boy... and he has enjoyed telling me "I told you so" everyday since Monday.
So the weekend went by and I was counting the hours until the sonogram; anxious to hear how this new baby was faring on the inside. We only had to wait about 10 minutes after we arrived at the office before they took us back. You know, with Philip we had so many sonograms and it always amazed me how they could tell so quickly that something was wrong. To me, the pictures were too fuzzy. I could sort of get what they were saying, but without a baseline for comparison, Philip looked fine to me. Well, let me tell you, I can sure see the differences now. It happened so quickly for both myself and for Carlos. The minute we looked at this little one we could tell the difference. His heart, brain, and face looked completely different than Philip’s. The doctor told us that he looks very healthy and is developing right on target. Now that we had a baseline, it made it so much easier to see the differences. With Philip, we never saw 4 chambers of the heart, or the division in the lobes of his brain. With this baby, the chambers were defined and his brain divided as they should be. Philip usually covered his face during sonograms, but when he didn’t his upper lip and nose just looked dark and fuzzy. Now I understand why the doctor knew he had a cleft lip and palette. The dark fuzzyness was because his face was not complete. This baby has a developed nose and upper lip. We got a profile and a straight on shot…both are clear.
Sorry for the long explanation, but I am just so overwhelmed. I am happy that this baby looks healthy and I am happy that now I understand even more about Philip than I had before. So, in the end, I do not need to go back to the specialist again. She offered to see us again if we wanted to take another look at the baby in a month or two. We thought about it, but she was so positive about the results we didn’t feel it was necessary. I will have another sono at my regular OB’s office at 30 weeks, so I was content with that. I feel like I am just rambling on and on. I hope I was clear. We are so thrilled to be having another boy, seeing as all our baby stuff is boy stuff! And…we are even more excited that this little guy is doing so well. I have been spending a lot of time warding off the daydreams of home life with a baby…just in case the appt. didn’t go so well. But now, I think I will enjoy dreaming about the future. I did that a lot before Philip’s diagnosis and I am excited to enjoy thinking about it again.
I will scan the sono pictures sometime this week so ya’ll can see our newest little pumpkin. Oh, and as far as names go…so far we are stuck on a first name-middle name combo. We are thinking “Christian” for a first name, but until we come up with a middle name too, nothing is set in stone. I will let ya’ll know when we decide.

This is the back view. Can you see the stacking? I was having a good hair day that particular morning, so I was excited to take these pictures.

Two in One Week
Wouldn’t you know it? I had to reschedule my sonogram. Trust me; I am way more disappointed than you. Apparently my new company did not upload my information to my new insurance carrier last Friday (like they promised they would); they are uploading it today. Therefore, my doctor will not be able to verify my insurance until Friday (maybe). In addition, I am booked solid next week, so I had to reschedule for the following week. AAGGGHHH!!! I got spoiled with Philip, we knew he was a boy at 16 weeks and were able to have a sonogram every 3 weeks at the specialist. With this baby, my patience is really being tested. I guess I should be thankful. God obviously doesn’t see the need for me to have my sonogram tomorrow; otherwise the stars would have aligned. Ha Ha Ha!!! In the end, I will get to sleep in a bit on Monday, Feb. 18th before going in for my 9:10am sonogram.
BTW- Those of you that know about my life-long battle with nail biting will be happy to know that this pregnancy has lifted the obsession and I am now (for the first time in my life) sporting a whole set (count ‘em 10) fingers with long nails! However, if this whole waiting thing keeps going like it’s going I might just bite ‘em all off! JK! Anyway, I am thankful for this gift that my 2nd child has given me. It is such a nice change from my old chewed-up “nubs”.
Wow, I can’t believe I have actually posted twice in one week. I do believe that is a personal record! Lisa, I will try to get around to posting those pictures this weekend…even if I have to call in my 13 year old nephew to walk an old lady through it...I promise.

Long Time No Write
Well, well, it has been almost 4 weeks since my last post. I really need to get on the ball seeing as now I have tons of stuff to share. First, my company has been in transition to be sold for the past 6+ months. We have all been waiting around (quite impatiently) for the sale to close and the new owners to come in. Finally, as of last Thursday, we are officially owned by one of our former competitors! I was excited to sign-up for my new benefits, which are far better than my old, last Friday. Now I have to wait until they are uploaded so I can call my doctor and change my information. I am scheduled to have my level 2 sonogram at the specialist on Thursday, so cross your fingers that my insurance gets uploaded before then. Otherwise, I will have to pay $900 (to be reimbursed later) or reschedule. Neither of which I want to do.
That leads me directly into baby news. The baby is moving more frequently and hurting mommy in some instances…but that’s ok, I can handle it. I really hope that we can keep our appointment on Thursday; I would like to know the baby’s sex and know that everything looks healthy and is developing correctly. Carlos finally admitted that he feels that the baby is a girl. I knew he thought so too, but was not eager to own it.
My mom bought us tickets to the rodeo for this past weekend and we had a blast. Carlos has never been to the SA rodeo, so it was a first for him. We got there early and enjoyed the famous VanDeWalle fajitas before going into the AT&T Center to watch the show. After 2 hours of bull riding & mutton bustin’ (among other things) we got to see Alan Jackson perform. Alan is my mom’s all-time favorite singer. Carlos and I enjoyed the show…but not as much as my mom! All-in-all we had a really good time and we defiantly plan to get tickets next year.
Speaking of my mom, we got her all moved into her new house last week. Carlos and I bought a new fridge (which we love) so we were able to return mom’s to her. It matches her new appliances and is just the right size (a little small for us). It might take her some months to unpack all those boxes, but she is so happy in her new place I don’t think she even cares.
Oh, for those of you who watch football…GO GIANTS! We decided that since our Cowboys flaked out in the post-season we would root for the underdog and wow did they come through! I still can’t believe that the Patriots didn’t even seem to try to win. Did Tom Brady think that showing up was all he needed to do? I mean, sure he’s good lookin’, but you actually have to score points to win…your looks just aren’t going to cut it alone. Just goes to show…cheaters never win. I guess they will have to try again next year before they can call themselves a Dynasty. Wah Wah Wah...
OK, OK, again with the pictures, I have taken pictures of my mom’s new house and my haircut and my belly bump and the nursery, now all I have to do is get them from my camera to my computer. I am hoping if I take baby steps (ha ha) I will finally accomplish my goal of posting pictures…one day ladies (and gentlemen???)…one day. If worse comes to worse I will just wait until Lisa comes to town in February and bribe her and Joe (Mexican food anyone?) to teach an old dog a new trick...they are way more computer savy than I am.
So, I will go now. I promise to post after my sonogram (if it happens) on Thursday and let you know what we are expecting and if the baby is looking on track and healthy. I might even post pictures over next weekend if I get around to it (don’t hold your breath).
